Type species: ¤ Kriegella aquimaris Nedashkovskaya et al. 2008.
Etymology: N.L. fem. dim. n. Kriegella, named in honour of Noel R. Krieg, a famous American microbiologist, who has made a great contribution to the taxonomy of bacteria belonging to the phylum Bacteroidetes.
