Type species: ¤ Labedaea rhizosphaerae Lee 2012.
Etymology: N.L. fem. n. Labedaea, named after David P. Labeda, a microbiologist who has contributed significantly to the systematics of actinomycetes.

Etymology: Gr. n. rhiza, a root; L. n. sphaera, ball, sphere; N.L. n. rhizosphaera, the rhizosphere; N.L. gen. n. rhizosphaerae, of the rhizosphere.
