Type species: ¤ Leadbetterella byssophila Weon et al. 2005.
Etymology: N.L. fem. dim. n. Leadbetterella, in honour of Dr Edward R. Leadbetter, who studied bacteria belonging to the CFB group.

Etymology: Gr. n. bussos, cotton; N.L. adj. philus -a -um (from Gr. adj. philos -ê -on), friend, loving; N.L. fem. adj. byssophila, liking cotton.
