Lentzea Yassin et al. 1995, gen. nov.
Type species: ¤ Lentzea albidocapillata Yassin et al. 1995.
Etymology: N.L. fem. n. Lentzea, named after Friedrich A. Lentze, a German microbiologist who devoted a considerable part of his life to studying pathogenic actinomycetes.

¤ Saccharothrix Labeda et al. 1984.

Note: Lee et al. 2000 propose to transfer ¤ Lentzea albidocapillata Yassin et al. 1995 (the type species of the genus Lentzea) to the genus ¤ Saccharothrix as ¤ Saccharothrix albidocapillata (Yassin et al. 1995) Lee et al. 2000, comb. nov. According to Rule 37a, bacteriologists adhering to this proposal must change the name Lentzea to ¤ Saccharothrix.

Note: Lee et al. 2000 [1] suggested that Lentzea albidocapillata Yassin et al. 1995, the type species of the genus Lentzea, be transferred to the genus ¤ Saccharothrix Labeda et al. 1984, thus effectively abolishing this genus under the Rule 37a. Phylogenetic and chemotaxonomic data do not support this proposal and, according to Labeda et al. 2001 [2], Lentzea is considered to be the current correct name. However, according to Rules 28a and 33c, Lentzea is not a revived name as proposed by Labeda et al. 2001 [2].
