Type species: ¤ Lishizhenia caseinilytica Lau et al. 2006.
Etymology: N.L. fem. n. Lishizhenia, named after Li Shizhen (1518-1593), the famous Chinese naturalist.
Valid publication: LAU (K.W.K.), REN (J.), WAI (N.L.M.), QIAN (P.Y.), WONG (P.K.) and WU (M.): Lishizhenia caseinilytica gen. nov., sp. nov., a marine bacterium of the phylum Bacteroidetes. Int. J. Syst. Evol. Microbiol., 2006, 56, 2317-2322.

Etymology: N.L. n. caseinum, casein; N.L. adj. lyticus -a -um (from Gr. adj. lutikos -ê -on), able to loosen, able to dissolve; N.L. fem. adj. caseinilytica, casein-dissolving.

Lishizhenia tianjinensis Chen et al. 2009, sp. nov.
Type strain: (see also Global Catalogue of Microorganisms) H6 = CGMCC 1.7005 = JCM 15141.

Etymology: N.L. fem. adj. tianjinensis, of or belonging to Tianjin, from where the type strain was isolated.
