Type species: ¤ Lutispora thermophila Shiratori et al. 2008.
Etymology: L. n. lutum, mud, sludge; Gr. fem. n. spora, a seed and, in biology, a spore; N.L. fem. n. Lutispora, a spore-forming organism that lives in anaerobic sludge.
