Maritimimonas Park et al. 2009, gen. nov.
Type species: ¤ Maritimimonas rapanae Park et al. 2009.
Etymology: L. adj. maritimus, of the sea, marine; L. fem. n. monas, a unit, a monad; N.L. fem. n. Maritimimonas, a monad from the sea, pertaining to the habitat of the animal that harboured the type species, a marine rock.
Valid publication: PARK (S.C.), BAIK (K.S.), KIM (D.) and SEONG (C.N.): Maritimimonas rapanae gen. nov., sp. nov., isolated from gut microflora of the veined rapa whelk, Rapana venosa. Int. J. Syst. Evol. Microbiol., 2009, 59, 2824-2829.

Maritimimonas rapanae Park et al. 2009, sp. nov. (Type species of the genus.)

Sequence accession no. (16S rRNA gene) for the type strain: EU290161.
Etymology: N.L. gen. n. rapanae, of Rapana, the generic name of the mollusc from which the type strain was isolated.
