Note: Balch et al. transferred the species ¤ Methanobacterium arbophilicum to the genus Methanobrevibacter as Methanobrevibacter arboriphilus [1]. The epithet arboriphilus has been erroneously corrected by the Lists Editor of the IJSB who created the new wrong epithet, arboriphilicus [2]. However, the correct form of the epithet (arboriphilus) was reestablished by Asakawa et al. [3].
