Moellerella Hickman-Brenner et al. 1984, gen. nov.
Type species: ¤ Moellerella wisconsensis Hickman-Brenner et al. 1984.
Etymology: N.L. fem. dim. n. Moellerella, named to honor Vagn Møller for his contributions to enteric bacteriology, especially for Moeller media for the determination of lysine decarboxylase, ornithine decarboxylase, and arginine dihydrolase, that are widely used for the identification of Enterobacteriaceae.

Sequence accession no. (16S rRNA gene) for the type strain: JN175344.
Etymology: N.L. fem. adj. wisconsensis, pertaining to the state of Wisconsin, U.S.A., where most of the original strains were isolated.
