Type species: ¤ Mycetocola saprophilus Tsukamoto et al. 2001.
Etymology: Gr. n. mukês -etis, a mushroom, fungus; L. suff. -cola (from L. masc. or fem. n. incola), dweller, inhabitant; N.L. masc. n. Mycetocola, fungus-dweller.

Etymology: N.L. masc. adj. miduiensis pertaining to Midui village, in Tibet Province, China, the location of the Midui glacier, where the type strain was isolated.
