Etymology: L. adv. paene, nearly, almost; N.L. masc. n. Alcaligenes, a bacterial genus name; N.L. masc. n. Paenalcaligenes, almost Alcaligenes.

Etymology: N.L. n. Hermetia, a scientific zoological generic name; N.L. gen. n. hermetiae, of Hermetia, isolated from larval gut of Hermetia illucens (Diptera: Stratiomyidae).
