Type species: ¤ Papillibacter cinnamivorans Defnoun et al. 2000.
Etymology: L. fem. n. papilla, teat; N.L. masc. n. bacter, rod or staff; N.L. masc. n. Papillibacter, a rod with ends looking like a teat.

Etymology: N.L. n. acidum cinnamicum, cinnamic acid; L. part. adj. vorans, devouring, digesting; N.L. part. adj. cinnamivorans, referring to the ability to digest cinnamic acid.
