Type species: ¤ Parasutterella excrementihominis Nagai et al. 2009.
Etymology: Gr. prep. para, beside, alongside of, near, like; N.L. fem. n. Sutterella, name of a bacterial genus; N.L. fem. n. Parasutterella, a genus similar to Sutterella.

Etymology: L. fem. adj. secunda, next to the first, the second, referring to the second species of the genus Parasutterella to be described.
