Type species: ¤ Phaeocystidibacter luteus Zhou et al. 2013.
Etymology: N.L. n. Phaeocystis -idis, scientific generic name of an alga; N.L. masc. n. bacter, a rod; N.L. masc. n. Phaeocystidibacter, a rod isolated from Phaeocystis globosa.

Etymology: L. masc. adj. luteus, orange-coloured, referring to the colour of the colonies.
