Type species: ¤ Planktothricoides raciborskii Suda et al. 2002.
Etymology: N.L. n. Planktothrix, a genus of cyanobacteria; L. suff. -oides (from Gr. suff. -eides, from Gr. n. eidos, that which is seen, form, shape, figure), ressembling, similar; N.L. fem. n. Planktothricoides, resembling Planktothrix Anagnostidis et Koma!rek.
