Type species: ¤ Pontimonas salivibrio Jang et al. 2013.
Etymology: L. n. pontus, the sea; L. fem. n. monas, a unit, monad; N.L. fem. n. Pontimonas, a sea monad.
Valid publication: JANG (G.I.), CHO (Y.) and CHO (B.C.): Pontimonas salivibrio gen. nov., sp. nov., a new member of the family Microbacteriaceae isolated from a seawater reservoir of a solar saltern. Int. J. Syst. Evol. Microbiol., 2013, 63, 2124-2131.

Pontimonas salivibrio Jang et al. 2013, sp. nov. (Type species of the genus.)
Type strain: (see also StrainInfo.net) CL-TW6 = JCM 18206 = KCCM 90105.
Sequence accession no. (16S rRNA gene) for the type strain: JQ639087.
Etymology: L. n. sal salis, salt; N.L. n. vibrio, that which vibrates, and also a genus name of bacteria possessing a curved rod shape; N.L. masc. n. (nominative in apposition) salivibrio, vibrio-shaped organism from a saline environment.
