Prolinoborus Pot et al. 1992, gen. nov.
Type species: ¤ Prolinoborus fasciculus (Strength et al. 1976) Pot et al. 1992.
Etymology: N.L. n. prolinum, the amino acid proline; Gr. adj. boros, gluttonous, voracious N.L. masc. n. Prolinoborus (bacteria) that readily consume proline.

Sequence accession no. (16S rRNA gene) for the type strain: JN175353.
Basonym: ¤ Aquaspirillum fasciculus Strength et al. 1976 (Approved Lists 1980).
Etymology: L. masc. dim. n. fasciculus, a small bundle.
