Type species: ¤ Pseudoamycolata halophobica Akimov et al. 1989.
Etymology: Gr. adj.  pseudês, false; N.L. fem. n. Amycolata, a bacterial genus name; N.L. fem. n. Pseudoamycolata, false Amycolata.

¤ Pseudonocardia Henssen 1957 (Approved Lists 1980).

Note: McVeigh et al. 1994 propose to transfer ¤ Pseudoamycolata halophobica Akimov et al. 1989 (the type species of the genus Pseudoamycolata) to the genus ¤ Pseudonocardia as ¤ Pseudonocardia halophobica (Akimov et al. 1989) McVeigh et al. 1994, comb. nov. According to Rule 37a, bacteriologists adhering to this proposal must change the name Pseudoamycolata to ¤ Pseudonocardia.
