Type species: ¤ Pseudobutyrivibrio ruminis van Gylswyk et al. 1996.
Etymology: Gr. adj.  pseudês, false; N.L. masc. n. Butyrivibrio, a bacterial genus name; N.L. masc. n. Pseudobutyrivibrio, not a true Butyribvibrio.
