Pyrodictium Stetter et al. 1984, gen. nov. (Type genus of the family ¤ Pyrodictiaceae Burggraf et al. 1997).
Type species: ¤ Pyrodictium occultum Stetter et al. 1984.
Etymology: Gr. n. pur, fire; Gr. neut. n. diktûon, lattice-work, network; N.L. neut. n. Pyrodictium, fire-loving network.
