Rahnella Izard et al. 1981, gen. nov.
Type species: ¤ Rahnella aquatilis Izard et al. 1981.
Etymology: N.L. fem. dim. n. Rahnella, named after Otto Rahn, the German-American microbiologist and who proposed the name Enterobacteriaceae in 1937.
Valid publication: Validation List no. 7. Int. J. Syst. Bacteriol., 1981, 31, 382-383.
Effective publication: IZARD (D.), GAVINI (F.), TRINEL (P.A.) and LECLERC (H.): Rahnella aquatilis, nouveau membre de la famille des Enterobacteriaceae. Ann. Microbiol., 1979, 130A, 163-177.
Validation List no. 7 in IJSEM Online

Note: The genus Rahnella Izard et al. 1981 encompasses three genomospecies: GS 1 (Rahnella aquatilis sensu stricto), GS 2 and GS 3. It is not possible to phenotypically differentiate Rahnella aquatilis from the other genomospecies. So, the genomospecies 2 and 3 are not formally named.
