Etymology: Gr. n. rhodon, the rose; N.L. neut. n. microbium, microbe; N.L. neut. n. Rhodomicroibum, red microbe.

Rhodomicrobium udaipurense Ramana et al. 2013, sp. nov.
Type strain: (see also Global Catalogue of Microorganisms) JA643=KCTC 15219=NBRC 109057.
Sequence accession no. (16S rRNA gene) for the type strain: FN995218.
Etymology: N.L. neut. adj. udaipurense, of or belonging to Udaipur, a place in the Indian Himalayas, from where the type strain was isolated.

Etymology: N.L. gen. masc. n. vannielii, of van Niel; named for C.B. van Niel, an American microbiologist.
