Type species: ¤ Rhodonellum psychrophilum Schmidt et al. 2006.
Etymology: Gr. neut. n. rhodon, a rose; L. neut. suff. -ellum, diminutive ending; N.L. dim. neut. n. Rhodonellum, a small rose, referring to the red colour of the colonies.
