Etymology: L. adj. roseus, rose-coloured, rosy; N.L. neut. n. microbium, a microbe; N.L. neut. n. Roseimicrobium, a rose-coloured microbe.

Etymology: gellanum, gellan; N.L. neut. adj. lyticum (from Gr. neut. adj. lutikon), able to loosen, able to dissolve; N.L. neut. adj. gellanilyticum, gellan-dissolving.
