Type species: ¤ Rubricoccus marinus Park et al. 2011.
Etymology: L. adj. ruber, reddish; N.L. n. coccus (from Gr. masc. n. kokkos) a berry; N.L. masc. n. Rubricoccus, reddish coccus.
Valid publication: PARK (S.), YOSHIZAWA (S.), KOGURE (K.) and YOKOTA (A.): Rubricoccus marinus gen. nov., sp. nov., of the family 'Rhodothermaceae', isolated from seawater. Int. J. Syst. Evol. Microbiol., 2011, 61, 2069-2072.
