Etymology: N.L. n. benzoas -atis, benzoate; Gr. adj. lutikos, able to loosen, able to dissolve; N.L. adj. lyticus -a -um (from Gr. adj. lutikos -ê -on), able to loosen, able to dissolve; N.L. masc. adj. benzoatilyticus, dissolving benzoate, named after its utilization of benzoate.
