Type species: ¤ Rummeliibacillus stabekisii Vaishampayan et al. 2009.
Etymology: N.L. n. Rummelius, Rummel; L. masc. n. bacillus, a rod, and also a bacterial genus name (Bacillus); N.L. masc. n. Rummeliibacillus, a bacterium close to the genus Bacillus and named in honour of former NASA Planetary Protection Officer Dr John Rummel, an astrobiologist responsible for bringing planetary protection into the public domain.
