Type species: ¤ Saccharibacter floricola Jojima et al. 2004.
Etymology: L. neut. n. saccharum or saccharon, a kind of sugar; N.L. masc. n. bacter, rod; N.L. masc. n. Saccharibacter, a sugar rod, a rod that grows well in a sugar-rich environment.
