Salinibacterium Han et al. 2003, gen. nov.
Type species: ¤ Salinibacterium amurskyense Han et al. 2003.
Etymology: L. n. salinum, salt-cellar; L. neut. n. bacterium, rod or staff and, in biology, a bacterium (so called because the first ones observed were rod-shaped); N.L. neut. n. Salinibacterium, a saline bacterium.

Etymology: N.L. neut. adj. amurskyense, of or belonging to Amursky Bay, the geographical location where the organism was first isolated.
