Sandaracinus Mohr et al. 2012 (authorship reads Mohr, Garcia, Irschik, Gerth and Müller), gen. nov. (Type genus of the family ¤ Sandaracinaceae Mohr et al. 2012).
Type species: ¤ Sandaracinus amylolyticus Mohr et al. 2012.
Etymology: Gr. adj. sandarakinos, orange-coloured; N.L. masc. n. Sandaracinus, referring to orange-coloured vegetative cells.
