Type genus: ¤ Sphaerobacter Demharter et al. 1989.
Etymology: N.L. masc. n. Sphaerobacter, type genus of the order; suff. -ales, ending denoting an order; N.L. fem. pl. n. Sphaerobacterales, the Sphaerobacter order.
