Stomatobaculum Sizova et al. 2013, gen. nov.
Type species: ¤ Stomatobaculum longum Sizova et al. 2013.
Etymology: Gr. n. stoma -atos, mouth; L. neut. n. baculum, stick, rod; N.L. neut. n. Stomatobaculum, mouth rod, because the organism was first isolated from the human mouth.
Valid publication: SIZOVA (M.V.), MULLER (P.), PANIKOV (N.), MANDALAKIS (M.), HOHMANN (T.), HAZEN (A.), FOWLE (W.), PROZOROV (T.), DBAZYLINSKI (D.A.) and EPSTEIN (S.S.): Stomatobaculum longum gen. nov., sp. nov., an obligately anaerobic bacterium from the human oral cavity. Stomatobaculum longum Sizova et al. 2013, sp. nov. (Type species of the genus.)
Type strain: (see also Global Catalogue of Microorganisms) ACC2 = DSM 24645 = HM-480 (deposited in BEI Resources, an NIH collection managed by the ATCC).
Sequence accession no. (16S rRNA gene) for the type strain: HM120209.
Etymology: L. neut. adj. longum, long (in shape).
Valid publication: SIZOVA (M.V.), MULLER (P.), PANIKOV (N.), MANDALAKIS (M.), HOHMANN (T.), HAZEN (A.), FOWLE (W.), PROZOROV (T.), DBAZYLINSKI (D.A.) and EPSTEIN (S.S.): Stomatobaculum longum gen. nov., sp. nov., an obligately anaerobic bacterium from the human oral cavity. Note: The valid publication of the name Stomatobaculum longum is questionable for the following reasons.

1) The type strain, originally designated "Lachnospiraceae bacterium ACC2", is deposited in BEI Resources (Biodefense and Emerging Infections Research Resources Repository) as strain HM-480.
According to the catalog of the BEI Resources, this item can be ordered once a year. Orders over this limit will be sent to National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) for approval before shipment. See http://www.beiresources.org/Catalog/ItemDetails.aspx?BEINum=HM-480&Template=bacteria.
Such a restriction is not in accordance with Rule 30 (4) which states that organisms deposited in such a fashion that access is restricted ... may not serve as type strains.

2) The status of the BEI Resources is not obvious.
BEI Resources is funded by the NIAID and managed by ATCC. But it does not appear to be an ATCC collection.
