Type species: ¤ Subdoligranulum variabile Holmstrøm et al. 2004.
Etymology: L. adj. subdolus, deceptive (alludes to the somewhat deceptive and unusual coccoid form); L. neut. n. granulum, a small grain; N.L. neut. n. Subdoligranulum, a deceptive small grain.
