Succinivibrio Bryant and Small 1956, genus. (Type genus of the family ¤ Succinivibrionaceae Hippe et al. 1999).
Type species: ¤ Succinivibrio dextrinosolvens Bryant and Small 1956 (Approved Lists 1980).
Etymology: N.L. n. acidum succinicum, succinic acid; L. v. vibro, to set in tremulous motion, move to and fro, vibrate; N.L. masc. n. vibrio, that which vibrates, and also a bacterial genus name of bacteria possessing a curved rod shape (Vibrio); N.L. masc. n. Succinivibrio, the succinic acid vibrio.

Etymology: N.L. n. dextrinum, dextrin; L. part. adj. solvens, dissolving; N.L. part. adj. dextrinosolvens, dextrin-dissolving.
