Etymology: Gr. n. teichos, wall; N.L. masc. n. coccus (from Gr. masc. n. kokkos, grain, seed), coccus; N.L. masc. n. Teichococcus, coccus from the wall.

Note: Sánchez-Porro et al. 2009 propose to transfer Teichococcus ludipueritiae Kämpfer et al. 2003 (the type species of the genus Teichococcus) to the genus ¤ Roseomonasas as ¤ Roseomonas ludipueritiae (Kämpfer et al. 2003) Sánchez-Porro et al. 2009, comb. nov. According to Rule 37a, bacteriologists adhering to this proposal must change the name Teichococcus to ¤ Roseomonas.

Type strain: (see also Global Catalogue of Microorganisms) 170/96 = CIP 107418 = DSM 14915.
Sequence accession no. (16S rRNA gene) for the type strain: AJ488504.
Etymology: L. n. ludus, a place of exercise or practice, a school for elementary instruction; L. n. puer -eri, a child; N.L. gen. n. ludipueritiae, intended to mean of a kindergarten.
