Type species: ¤ Tepidicella xavieri França et al. 2006.
Etymology: L. adj. tepidus, warm; L. fem. n. cella, chamber and in biology a cell; N.L. fem. n. Tepidicella, a cell living in a warm environment.

Etymology: N.L. gen. n. xavieri, of Xavier, in honour of the Portuguese biochemist António V. Xavier.
