Type species: ¤ Tepidimicrobium ferriphilum Slobodkin et al. 2006.
Etymology: L. adj. tepidus, moderately warm; N.L. neut. n. microbium, microbe; N.L. neut. n. Tepidimicrobium, a microbe from a hot spring.

Etymology: L. n. ferrum, iron; N.L. adj. philus -a -um (from Gr. adj. philos -ê -on), friend, loving; N.L. neut. adj. ferriphilum, iron-loving.

Etymology: N.L. n. xylanum, xylan, a plant polymer; N.L. adj. lyticus -a -um (from Gr. adj. lutikos -ê -on), able to loosen, able to dissolve; N.L. neut. adj. xylanilyticum, xylan-dissolving.
