Type species: ¤ Terracoccus luteus Prauser et al. 1997.
Etymology: L. fem. n. terra, soil; N.L. masc. n. coccus (from Gr. masc. n. kokkos), a grain, seed; N.L. masc. n. Terracoccus, coccus isolated from soil.
