→ ¤ Thermoanaerobacter Wiegel and Ljungdahl 1982.
Note: Lee et al. 1993 propose to transfer ¤ Thermoanaerobium brockii Zeikus et al. 1983 (the type species of the genus Thermoanaerobium) to the genus ¤ Thermoanaerobacter as ¤ Thermoanaerobacter brockii (Zeikus et al. 1983) Lee et al. 1993, comb. nov. According to Rule 37a, bacteriologists adhering to this proposal must change the name Thermoanaerobium to ¤ Thermoanaerobacter.

Note: In January 1993, the type species of Thermoanaerobium (Thermoanaerobium brockii Zeikus et al. 1983) has been transferred to the genus ¤ Thermoanaerobacter [1]. According to Rule 37a, bacteriologists adhering to this proposal must change the name Thermoanaerobium to Thermoanaerobacter. The name Thermoanaerobium acetigenum has been effectively published in 1993 [2], and validly published in April 1994 (Validation List 49) [3]. Of course, Thermoanaerobium acetigenum was not included in the study by Lee et al. 1993. According to Rule 37a, the name Thermoanaerobium must be changed to Thermoanaerobacter, and Thermoanaerobium acetigenum must be transferred to the genus Thermoanaerobacter or in another genus.
