Type genus: ¤ Thermofilum Zillig and Gierl 1983.
Etymology: N.L. neut. n. Thermofilum, type genus of the family; L. suff. -aceae, ending to denote a family; N.L. fem. pl. n. Thermofilaceae, the Thermofilum family.
