Thermogemmatispora Yabe et al. 2011, gen. nov. (Type genus of the order ¤ Thermogemmatisporales Yabe et al. 2011; type genus of the family ¤ Thermogemmatisporaceae Yabe et al. 2011).
Type species: ¤ Thermogemmatispora onikobensis Yabe et al. 2011.
Etymology: Gr. adj. thermos, hot; L. adj. gemmatus, provided with buds; Gr. n. spora, a seed and, in biology, a spore; N.L. fem. n. Thermogemmatispora, thermophilic budding-spored organism.

Etymology: L. pl. gen. n. foliorum, of leaves, referring to the isolation of the type strain from fallen leaves.

Etymology: N.L. fem. adj. onikobensis, of or pertaining to Onikobe, named for Onikobe hot springs, the source of the geothermal soils from which the type strain was isolated.
