Type species: ¤ Thermosinus carboxydivorans Sokolova et al. 2004.
Etymology: Gr. adj. thermos, hot; L. masc. n. sinus, a curve; N.L. masc. n. Thermosinus, thermophilic curved rod.

Etymology: N.L. n. carboxydum, carbon monoxide; L. part. adj. vorans, devouring, destroying; N.L. part. adj. carboxydivorans, destroying carbon monoxide.
