Type strain: (see also Global Catalogue of Microorganisms) ABI70S6 = DSM 17441 = JCM 13301.
Sequence accession no. (16S rRNA gene) for the type strain: AB282756.
Etymology: N.L. gen. n. takaii, of Takai, named after Dr Ken Takai, a microbiologist who has devoted himself to the study of terrestrial and deep-sea hydrothermal microbial ecosystems and chemolithoautotrophs present in those environments.
