Type strain: (see also Global Catalogue of Microorganisms) BCH = DSM 13587 = ATCC BAA-132.
Sequence accession no. (16S rRNA gene) for the type strain: AJ404006.
Etymology: N.L. gen. masc. n. trueperi, of Trüper, named after Hans G. Trüper, a German microbiologist who has made a significant contribution to our knowledge of anoxygenic phototrophic bacteria.
