Etymology: N.L. fem. dim. n. Trueperella, named after Hans Georg Trüper, the German microbiologist.

Etymology: L. n. bonasus -i, a species of bull in Pœonia, with the hair of a horse, and with horns unfit for fighting; L. gen. n. bonasi, of bonasus, of the European bison (Bison bonasus) from which the type strain was isolated.
