Turicibacter Bosshard et al. 2002, gen. nov.
Type species: ¤ Turicibacter sanguinis Bosshard et al. 2002.
Etymology: L. n. Turicum, the Latin name of Zürich; N.L. masc. n. bacter, a rod; N.L. masc. n. Turicibacter, a rod-shaped organism from Zürich, Switzerland, where the bacterium was first isolated.
Valid publication: BOSSHARD (P.P.), ZBINDEN (R.) and ALTWEGG (M.): Turicibacter sanguinis gen. nov., sp. nov., a novel anaerobic, Gram-positive bacterium. Int. J. Syst. Evol. Microbiol., 2002, 52, 1263-1266.

Turicibacter sanguinis Bosshard et al. 2002, sp. nov. (Type species of the genus.)
Type strain: (see also Global Catalogue of Microorganisms) MOL361 = DSM 14220 = NCCB 100008.
Sequence accession no. (16S rRNA gene) for the type strain: AF349724.
Etymology: L. n. sanguis -inis, blood; L. gen. n. sanguinis, of blood, indicating that the bacterium was isolated from a blood culture.
