Turicibacter Bosshard et al. 2002, gen. nov.
Type species: ¤ Turicibacter sanguinis Bosshard et al. 2002.
Etymology: L. n. Turicum, the Latin name of Zürich; N.L. masc. n. bacter, a rod; N.L. masc. n. Turicibacter, a rod-shaped organism from Zürich, Switzerland, where the bacterium was first isolated.

Etymology: L. n. sanguis -inis, blood; L. gen. n. sanguinis, of blood, indicating that the bacterium was isolated from a blood culture.
