Type species: ¤ Vasilyevaea enhydra (Staley 1968) Yee et al. 2010.
Etymology: N.L. fem. n. Vasilyevaea, of Vasilyeva, named in honour of Lina Vasilyeva, a Russian microbiologist who has dedicated her career to the investigation of prosthecate bacteria and has named several new genera within this group.
