Type genus: ¤ Verrucomicrobium Schlesner 1988.
Etymology: N.L. neut. n. Verrucomicrobium, type genus of the order; suff. -ales, ending denoting an order; N.L. fem. pl. n. Verrucomicrobiales, the Verrucomicrobium order.
