Victivallis Zoetendal et al. 2003, gen. nov. (Type genus of the order ¤ Victivallales Cho et al. 2004; type genus of the family ¤ Victivallaceae Derrien et al. 2012).
Type species: ¤ Victivallis vadensis Zoetendal et al. 2003.
Etymology: L. masc. n. victus, food; L. fem. n. vallis, valley; N.L. fem. n. Victivallis, food valley, referring to the Wageningen 'Food Valley', which includes Wageningen and surroundings, an area of The Netherlands in which Food Science is a major research topic.
Valid publication: ZOETENDAL (E.G.), PLUGGE (C.M.), AKKERMANS (A.D.L.) and DE VOS (W.M.): Victivallis vadensis gen. nov., sp. nov., a sugar-fermenting anaerobe from human faeces. Int. J. Syst. Evol. Microbiol., 2003, 53, 211-215.

Type strain: (see also Global Catalogue of Microorganisms) Cello = ATCC BAA-548 = DSM 14823.
Sequence accession no. (16S rRNA gene) for the type strain: AY049713.
Etymology: N.L. fem. adj. vadensis, of or belonging to Vada, referring to Wageningen (Victivallis vadensis refers to the Wageningen "Food Valley").
