Etymology: L. fem. n. volucris -is, bird; N.L. masc. n. bacter, rod; N.L. masc. n. Volucribacter, rod-shaped bacterium of birds.

Etymology: N.L. gen. n. amazonae, of parrots of the genus Amazona Lesson 1830.
